The name Luckyface is the result of a mistranslation. While traveling in Hong Kong, I heard a street vendor yelling out, “Luckyface! Luckyface! Very good brand.” Intrigued, we browsed her table and saw that she was selling North Face knock-offs. This fleeting exchange was part of a larger, longer, amazing experience, and the name and that day stayed in my memory.
